How much weight can the D3 carry?
Hi all.
I've been looking in the manual etc, plus forum search but no answer.
I sometimes have to pick-up boxes of tiles for my business (weight varies). But, have to say, I might have 10 to 15 boxes of ceramic or porcelain and it used to sometimes have my old estate arches nearly touching the tyres at the back! Result has been two knackered cars over recent years. They never feel the same after over-loading them. Seems to make the whole car feel wollowy and less taught.
Everyone keeps telling me how Discos can take a load of weight, but with all this complex trickery and compressors etc, I'm too frightened to put more than a few bags of shopping in it. I'm planning on buying a tow bar but haven't got that yet.
So I wondered what the views were and if there were any specific load max weights for the boot space?
Also, with 7 seats, I guess any weight is best well distributed evenly and perhaps across a flat piece of MDF so as not to damage folded seats underneath?
Can weight adversely effect/deteriorate the AS if loaded too much?
Thanks in advance for any views/answers.

Thanks. Reassuring.
Everyone who sees it (in the trade) says "oh, that's better and it can take the weight as well can't it". I never realised.
The tile warehouse are usually good at estimating the weight.
I suppose the 4 corners are supporting 3 tons already so another half a ton wont make much difference!
But... does it not make the motor feel a bit worn-out afterwards?

Not very scientific, but assuming just you driving, would weight of tiles be more (or less) than an additional 6 adult passengers if it were fully loaded with warm bodies?
I assume most 'normal' estate cars are designed around same suspension as saloons rather than being designed from outset as a vehicle with specific abilities?

I've carried probably around half a ton of building materials on a couple of occasions and near that of tiles for about 100 miles, no problems at all.
Thinking about it - seven seats - 7 reasonable sized adults = 700 kg or 600 kilos and a driver, plenty of capacity really Clive
