How much will new discs and pads all round cost? |
|
I've got the "check brakes" warning on the dash at the moment.
If it turns out to be the worst case scenario - all discs and pads need replacing - what should i expect to have to pay?
I've got to fix the rear parking sensors too. Its going to be a very expensive month

Do you do work yourself on your car ? Discs and pads are fairly straight forward to change and would save you boatload in labour

I'd like to say yes - but we've recently moved and our driveway is now like ascending the north face of Everest!
So no, i'm going to have to get all the work done.

Loggerheads TF9 - I see you're in Telford.
If you had to take your D3 somewhere in the local area where would you go?

Personally I use an independent mechanic for brakes and normal servicing stuff, he is a class act and although he cannot do all the diagnostics stuff he has system that does basic checks and resets service indicators etc. His rates are very good. If I require more complex work that he cannot do I use Roean landrover Telford.
I had problem with judder under acceleration (auto box fluid) he changed oil and filter (I provided these parts for £100 !!
If you want the details of the mechanic I use send me PM cheers

Pads all round about £90
Discs about £150
buy Britpart discs - they are the same as LR genuine and a fraction of the price. Duncan

Tanisdraven, I'm in TF12, so not too far
You can do them yourself with Bodsy's Brake Bible , but from what I've heard about Amondeggs mechanic, it sounds like he's dedicated to it too. Bodsys Brake Bible

not sure if britparts are the same as orginal when i changed mine ther were ferodo pads on ther and always had a main dealer do the work so replaced like for like, local supplier told me it was more than likely that they use ferodo as standard so put on ferodo disks and pads with no probs what so ever at a rough guess think pads font and back were 90 and discs 110 but not 100%sure will check invoice, easy job to do and not worth paying main dealer prices if it aint broke dont fix it

Last time I looked Kwik-Fit had a deal where if you got pads/discs done and paid a small additional fee they would keep on replacing them as long as you had the vehicle. I took that deal on an exhaust for my D1 - cost me £15 extra, but then I kept it for 12 years = 4 full systems. I just got front & rear pads, for around £60, genuine L/R from an independant, sensors think around £20 or £25, & half a knuckle of skin, disc's look ok til the next 30k miles. The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

I've been quoted about £210 for front and rear pads, both sensors, and front discs including shipping from a well know fellow.
All genuine LR. PAGODA

Well i've looked around and so far Kwik Fit seem the cheapest at £210 for pads all round fitted and £636 for pads and discs all round fitted.
I've got a couple of other garage to try but it looks like they are going to be the winner.
I just hope they know what they are doing with the wear sensors.

Take a look at kmotors.co.uk they are advertising an axle set, front or rear for £230 quid all in, that would be £460, is Leyland too far for you to travel?
