On a side note, if you're only doing runs of 3-4 miles each way, it's quite likely that you may have issues with the regeneration of Diesel particulate filter. You may need to do a longer run of 40mph+ for 20 mins+ every so often.
3-4 miles each way, and an occasional run of 200 miles to our company factory.
Should be ok

Quick Update:
Very pleased to report that the supplying dealer have done the right thing, and have agreed to pay for the new auxialliary battery etc etc.
I will report back as soon as the work is complete, and let you all know if the start stop actually works LOL

LT,
Thanks. I see you are in the south west, and this is where my car came from. Saying that, I have seen two identical ones today LOL
Why do you hope its not your old one ?
Give me a clue as to something about your old one, and I will check and let you know.

Glad it’s all working now.
My D4 Landmark got crushed by falling masonry. NFU gave me a choice of having it repaired or a pay out, I took the later. I do know it was put back on the road.
HG16 EYR was the reg. but it’s no longer on that plate. It was originally supplied new to me by Salisbury Land Rover.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

LT,
As most of my family are in the car trade, I spent a good portion of my younger years around car bodyshops. I can spot a paint repair from a mile off, and I am very pleased to report that my car is 100% original paint
Thanks for the heads up though, apprecisate it.

According to my local Land Rover dealer, there are 55 reasons why S/S doesn't work sometimes, including cold mornings! It's not always the aux battery which can be charged rather than replaced if necessary.1978 Series 3 88 Military Green (Gone)

Andy,
55 reasons !!! I am struggling to think of 55 things that should stop it working. Thats an incredibly high number, and probably explains why so many do not work.
I dont know much about LR's, but I do know a little bit about batteries. Yes, In theory any battery can be charged, but after a period of time they reach a point where even if they take a charge, they will not hold it. My aux. batery was the orginal from when the car was new (now 4 years old), and had a resting voltage of just over 9 volts. For the cost of a new one (and remember, I was not paying ), it was not even worth the time to try to get it charged.
Anyway, all working now, and already annoying me LOL

Hope you kept the old battery!
I think there could be a market for worn out AUX batteries - if you weren't so far away I would offer to recycle yours - into my car!In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.

Sorry Rata, nope. Indy disposed of the old one, and fitted a new genuine LR battery at a ridiculous cost to the supplying dealer (not me LOL)

From the Landrover website online D4 handbook Stop/Start section. You could probably sub divide several of these to get to 55 conditions ( for instance the climate control system one , where they give one example):
“The following conditions will prevent an automatic engine stop:
An automatic transmission shift paddle has been used to select a gear.
The external temperature is less than approximately 0°C.
The external temperature is more than approximately 40°C.
The engine has not reached its operating temperature.
The driver's seat belt is not fastened.
Demand from the Climate control system requires the engine to be running, for example, when in Defrost mode.
The vehicle's battery charge is low.
Intelligent stop/start is deactivated.
The bonnet is opened”Gary
