New Addition To The Family |
|
My new mistress arrived into the family on Saturday, "Ruby", she is a lovely Rimini Red D3 MY2006 TDV6 S Auto. She replaces my 300TDi who was getting a bit long in the tooth but was always up for getting down and dirty when the need arose. Ruby is a bit posh but showed on Sunday that when she lifts her sills she enjoys a bit of the rough stuff. Very impressed with the hill descent control. It is a leap of faith to use it, but it is impressive.
Still learning and playing with all the controls and hidden bits. Loved getting warmed up this morning by the time I got to the end of the road instead of half way to work, have the Climate pack so warm bum as well. Have the Bright pack and the Harman stereo upgrade as well. Not resorted to the handbook yet, so it is a blokes car if it can be worked out without a read first.........
With my private plate fitted she looks a million dollars and not a 75K mile car. These do seem to wear the miles well, not a chip or a dent anywhere on the paintwork. All the neighbours have been curtain twitching since she has arrived, with 4 new tyres and all shiny she looks brand new. Not so clean now after playing in the mud and motorway salt crap all over the rear, looks more like MY Landrover now!!
Think I am falling in love, wife thinks Ruby is ugly though!!!

Ruby has disgraced herself this morning. New heated screen failed to work and the heated washer jets didn't seem to work either, both frozen! Stealer collecting her tomorrow from work and fixing it and bringing it back later. Can't fault the service but it shouldn't have happened in the first place........
The FBH warmed up the screen to de-ice it within a minute so it wasn't the end of the world, but no washers on the M4 was!!

I had that Sunday. Did a booze run to Calais. Leaving at 5:30am it was -2 dropping to -7 up in the Cotswolds!
Didnt try the washer jets till on the motorway as I didnt need them till got the motorway crap spraying up onto windscreen and found them both not working. Wasn't sure what was going on, I assumed if any of the water was frozen the heat of the engine would sort it out but still didnt work. When dawn finally broke I saw the 2 washer jets had been replaced with 2 little ice cubes on the bonnet!
Kept trying thinking if the water gets heated surely it would cut throught the ice after a second or 2 but no luck. In France even without the 2 ice cubes nothing happened and found i'd blown the fuse. Changed fuse and all worked well.
I only assume that a few weeks before I'd topped up the washer jets with normal water, then more recently with water heavily laced with screen wash, and that the pure water was drawn in the pipes near the nozzle and had frozen
