it hasn't been 'shifted' overseas........ Rolling Eyes

The plant was planned years ago to increase capacity and all the other 'benefits' of in region (or closer to other further afield customers/markets) for certain models, etc.

It is as valid now as it was then, despite difficulties the majority of auto manufacturers are experiencing currently. UK isn't big enough to build all the current, and reduced, volume in its UK footprint. If you believe some things it may become even more relevant after a certain key date for the UK next year

Criticised him for being disingenuous is perhaps more accurate.....his words in the years leading up to the decision led many to believe it would be in the uk.

United Kingdom 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 Landmark LE Auto Santorini BlackDiscovery 4

I could be wrong, but haven’t the management of JLR always been against Brexit? Whilst in recent years Dyson was loudly beating the drum for Brexit and how great it would be for U.K. manufacturing etc. etc.
Ralf Speth has been very vocal on the subject in the press recently. I’ll not post the links, wouldn’t want anyone to melt!
I totally understand the business reasons for overseas production and don’t disagree with it. I do think Dyson is a huge hypocrite though.

Who said anything about Brexit about JLR, this seems an example of them pushing this http://m.koreatimes.co.kr/pages/article.asp?newsIdx=169542 purely as an example, not cherry picked Whistle

And you think Rolls Royce owners worry about parentage and where their bodies are built, engines in Aston’s, French cars not built in France, German cars not built in Germany, American cars not built in America, etc. Confused

If they did companies like Magna Steyr would go bust Wink

JLR have a significant UK base in R&D and manufacturing...they have under TATA had a global expansion plan to serve local markets, which is well documented. Dyson on the other hand moved production out of the UK to Malaysia and now Singapore ...not to compliment the UK market and to serve local markets ...but because he is a self serving hypocritical slime ball Very Happy

As my BIL works for RR from what I’ve seen yes the British element is a huge part and why so many buyers come and see their cars being built and want the heritage of Goodwood.

There is nothing wrong with having a global approach car production (For the Pedants nowadays - That is what Land Rovers are - cars). There is nothing wrong with expanding production facilities on a global basis. Look what Nissan, Honda and Toyota did in establishing automotive plants in the UK and very good they are too (in spite of the French jibes at Aircraft carriers off the coast and then went all Gooey over Valenciennes!!!!!!!!)

Where is Dyson building his 'wonderful Electric car'? Not here. He'll take the grant money but not give us the benefits. Hope they last longer than his Vacuum cleaners!!!

Which idiots who bought there Dysons listened to him?

The last thing the Automotive industry needed was Brexit.

Strange that the North East voted for it. I am sure they will be the first to start whining when they start losing the well paid Automotive jobs - Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Don't knock Car plants overseas, from what I have seen they are as good as anything in the Midlands, if not better!!!

More importantly, Dyson once argued for the UK to join the Euro. He pressed for closer EU ties. Then the EU brought out a vacuum cleaner test that didn't suit him. And suddenly he was became a spokesman for Brexit. The man is a total hypocrite and should have his title removed.

Using part of the comment is slightly misleading Rolling Eyes

They don’t need another UK factory either just to ‘have the room’............. “FFS” Rolling Eyes
