I think we should all drive backwards everywhere, then the 'A' pillars would only be an issue when we are reversing (driving forwards for those not following me)

Not just 4x4's with huge A pillars.
I drive a Prius as works car and you can lose a whole van in the A pillar blind spot!

What a load of old co*k. There are more drivers out there with no insurance, bald tyres, illegally dark window tints, stupidly loud stereos, driving whilst  ed or stoned and any number of other misdemeanours, all of which are far more dangerous, but they don't bother their ar$e$ reporting that do they? Guardianista, muesli-eating, sandal-wearing hippies.
The blind spot on my MINI is awful and there are more of them on the road than 4x4s (I think).
Back in the day when I was taught to drive (20 years next month), I was taught to always look over my shoulder when turning in either direction and I usually do. It's called good driving and we don't need the Grauniad or the government to remind us how to do it. No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!

Having seen at this thread, I've spent the last couple of days looking at A pillars 
I can't see that 4x4's A pillars are wider/bigger than other vehicles. The new(ish) breed of CC's & convertibles obviously have reinforced A pillars which are pretty chunky.
Apart from that, the overall size of the vehicle seems to bear no relationship to the size of its A pillar.
As such, my conclusion is that this survey is a load of .

It gets about 60% rebate on tax so for me it makes about 90pounds per month on petrol -allowing the purchase of a D3 
But the car is !
25% more fuel than declared. Rusting after 2.5 years. Interior that rattles like mad in cold weather. Crap, crap , crap crap.

My wife compained that she could not park her D3 in Uni where she has started a course so we bought an Aygo. Maths broke even as long as we do 8000 miles in it rather than the D3. If it saves tax & pays for a D3, go for it!

Also not happy with Toyotas workshop in Gothenburg. Car is left with marker paint on it after a quote for body repairs and the guy who is quoting is directly rude when I try to forward a point of view. TO boot they haven't fixed the brakes properly.

er...well I actually find having a passenger in the passenger seat tends to block side vision a lot more than an A pillar, so by this logic no car at all should have a passenger seat in the front.....suck on that greenpi$$.    2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.
Taking the greenpi$$ is: Green taxing your citizens more & using some of the money to buy nukes.
