My no Sat Nav or audio and presumed to be a MOST problem with one of the modules has shown up a 'funny'.
Took the side panel off to start with by passing the TMC module and found a wondering connector and MOST connector, NO Bluetooth module! Gone!
I plugged my Fibre Loop in and the Touch screen burst into life as did the sat nav part.
Still no audio but I have feeling the head unit has a problem, the CD part shows an error on screen and asks for the 'Eject' to be pressed. I can't insert a disc so maybe a disc is stuck inside!
So off with the head!
I've had a look on Fleabay and Bluetooth modules for a D3 are like hens teeth, so I am planning to use a D4 module, that should be OK, anybody with thoughts?
Best

The cd load process is very weird.
You have to tell it which location it's going in first

D4 module is the way to go but pls be careful what you buy
Thanks guys!
Just bought a D4 bluetooth module from a scrap yard on Ebay.
Geoff, This will obviously be keyed to the original car, I won't have any problems marrying it to mine will I?
On my original D3 I was lent a Bluetooth module which 'plugged and played OK, so can I assume this will be the case with this D4 one?
The Head Unit has a trapped CD in it! I've taken it apart as much as I can but can't free the CD.
Any pointers to what to do next?
Can a stuck CD and no Bluetooth mute the audio? I have looped the fibre so the MOST is continuous and as I posted earlier the Sat Nav now works.
My job in the morning, is to replace the Head Unit to see if I have cured anything by my fiddling and loop out the TMC to see if that brings any audio!
Luckily I bought 2 Fibre loops as suggested!
You have to tell it which location it's going in first
It has certainly one CD stuck inside, maybe two, I can't make out if it is a reflection or a real CD!
Any pointers as to how and if possible top totally dismantle the unit?
I found one video to remove the front panel but it goes no further.

why are they stuck ? because they won't play?
recommend you read the instructions on operation first. Inserting/Ejecting
Have you tried the buttons on the right? in the menu I think there is an "Eject all" option.
The top lid comes off easily.
But I haven't needed to remove CD's before.
The unit is out of the car but I seem to remember that there was an 'Error with Disc Eject' on the screen.
What was interesting is that it showed NO CDs i.e. all the blobs were empty.
The unit comes out easily as you say and taking the top off allows you to release the ribbon cables for the front panel and also the ribbon cable that goes to the CD multichanger unit mounted underneath.
As usual it is assembled in a certain order and the radio pcb is the last item in, so has to come out before you can get to the rear screws holding the CD unit.
I would love to find the instructions as to how it works as often you can turn a cog and it goes through a load unload cycle and you can check for any seized parts.

I took the Head unit apart as far as I could, well to the point where I knew I could put it back together again! No flying springs etc.!
It actually has/had 6 CDs in it!
One was out of its holder and was jamming the mechanism.
Having tried every way possible I resorted to a bit of pull/push and eventually it came free.
Now the mechanism moved freely but one tray was slightly out of place. Not neatly sacked at the bottom.
I could not find the main gear that drove everything as some bits are 'put into play' by a couple of small solenoids. So I put it back together and hoped it would sort itself out.
Sadly no! It does sound better mechanically but it gets to a point where the mechanism jams and goes no further.
So I have to admit defeat and look for a replacement unit.
I only need the CD unit!
Next up was the amp under the drivers seat to see what if anything was obviously wrong.
Geoff thinks that this could be the culprit for the lack of sound given that the sat nav now works fully, a be it with an old 2005 DVD.
Opening the amp was easy but there was no obvious problem, resistors overheated etc.
So I need one of those too!
The one out of mine is a High Line 2, one I have found on the wonderful ebay is Premium 1.
Will this work OK, the connectors are the same.
All help gladly received!

don't know about the amps. If you search there are posts about them though.
Maybe 1 CD needs to be slightly out to play it ?
I don't think I have ever said this....
maybe you should consider aftermarket replacement if so many bits are faulty?
I get your drift Pete, but I don't want this to beat me!
Also putting in an aftermarket unit isn't as easy at it sounds.
The audio gets to the amp by the fibre optic I believe as that is where the speaker wires all terminate.
An after market unit works fine in the Low Line cars, as they don't have the fibre network.
So really only the original works properly.
And yes the Sat Nav is pretty useless except if you drive into a forest and want to get out again!
Also it found a friends house in Portugal that Tomtom couldn't!
Compared to my Audi A5 sat nav which doesn't have completer postcode implementation, it doesn't let you put in the last two alpha digits of the postcode as well not allowing you to add POIs even though it is a hard disc based system!
Nothing can beat the Tomtom for value for money!
Forgot to say that the controls for the fader balance, treble and bas etc are shown but can't be adjusted.
That I think is done in the amp unit.

Yeah you would need to run wires to under the seat.
