When I'm driving and press the pedal the car makes a whinning sound put when I take my foot off the pedal and roll there is no noise .any ideas please

Mine was the rear diff bearings on the way out

Bearings was my first thought. 2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
2012 - FL2 2009 GS Stornoway Grey

Just an update.turns out I needed front diff and drive shaft

Sorry to butt in on this, but to save starting a new thread...
Mine is doing this, although its hard to tell if its coming from the front or back. How do you diagnose/check?

The garage I use sorted it but from what I understand if you put on ramp and rotate wheels you can here where sound is coming from .
