The noise is getting worse :( |
|
So, the noise in corners which some guessed might be the abs has come back with a vengeance 😞
I’m sure it’s the drive shaft sliding out though.... i went round a roundabout and it did it big time so I tried to record it but when it refused to do it until I put the phone away then it did it on the very next corner!
I’ve figured out it only does it when coasting which makes me think Drive shaft coming out on near side front. When under load (acceleration) it can’t slide out, but when coasting to right it slides out....
Sounds like a machine gun, can feel it in throttle pedal and abs light flashes like mad.
At least that’s my theory.
Now got to wait til 8th when they re open to get it checked.
Anyone had this happen or is it just me? Land Rover Discovery 3 HSE

CV
No, I’m pretty sure it’s not, but I could be wrong..... it’s the way it only seems to happen when under load and sounds like a machine gun when it does and I loose power and light flashes like mad..... I could be wrong but if CV joint was knocking its wouldn’t sound like a machine gun but would be slower knock knock knock and I wouldn’t feel like a loss in power..... also don’t think abs would flash.... but I could be wrong. Basic I know, but check your tyre pressures. Had exactly the same thing and it was due to a slow puncture on the rear off-side tyre.

I wonder if you have play in one of your wheel bearings making the exciter ring move away from the abs sensor setting the abs off

Thought is was the wheel bearing as that side had gone so was replaced. They did say the abs sensor looked ropey but I don’t think it’s abs as only happens when not under load which is why I think the drive shaft is slipping out. Land Rover Discovery 3 HSE

***MISTAKE ALERT***
I should have said it’s the traction control light that flashes not the ABS light. Land Rover Discovery 3 HSE
