Nokia N95 and Bluetooth... Problems pairing

I recently bought a 2nd Phone for work, the Silver Nokia N95 (Non 8gb), before that I used my Sony Ericsson k810i very successfully with the LR Bluetooth system however I cannot get the N95 to pair with the LR System.

It finds the module successfully but when you try to pair the devices together the phone throws up an error message "Unable to Pair with Device" can anyone shed any light.

Could it be that the phone requires the software to be updated or perhaps the Disco does!!

The N95 is running software version V 21.0.016

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Try pairing a different phone to the D3 to rule out BT problems there ...I had no problem pairing my old N95 ...though it might need a firmware upgrade as you say Thumbs Up

I have reverted back to the K810i until I try and resolve the problems with the N95 so the BT works fine Confused

My N95 worked fine until the LR bluetooth unit died Sad LR fitted the new version under warranty and the N95 would not work with it, other newer phones did Confused

I tried to update the firmware but T-Mobile had locked the phone so it would not do firmware updates. I hit the net and found out a) how to unlock the phone so it was not network provider specific, and b) hit Nokia's site and did a firmware upgrade which now worked without being blocked.

The firmware update took the firmware level up about 15 versions Shocked and it worked 1st time with the new bluetooth unit in the D3. Now have Phonebook over bluetooth and no other problems using the phone in the car. Another interesting aside is that the phone battery now lasts much longer as well.

My guess is that it probably is the phone, but a bit of research on the mobile phone tech forums will soon tell you how to fix the problem Thumbs Up Very Happy

Hi SJR,

I've had a similar problem.

First some deduction:

You did that, works, so car BT is working.

firmware upgrade

Mine is 31.0.17. I'm not so sure this makes a difference. My dad uses his N95 with his D3, works flawless (on LR aftermarket BT unit!!!) but I'm pretty confident he has never updated his phone!

Situation I have:
When the N95 pairs the first time, all is well. When I then walk away from the motor whilst leaving it 'live' (so BT connection gets broken), it will never pair again. This happens when loading the vehicle. The situation is comparable to when driving, cannot pair and try to manually connect several times. This will not work in my case.

When I need to reconnect the phone, I need to let the car go to sleep. Sometimes it helps to reset the N95 as well. The N95 is a real computer: it likes to be rebooted every so often.

Do you have the factory-fit PTI or is it aftermarket (even LR?). If the latter, you will not get phonebook and so over BT but handsfree works fine including steering wheel controls.

Hope you get it sorted. The N95 is a great phone.

Regards,

Wiljo
