Not bad MPG for a V8

70mph down the motorway hovered around this number all the way, real numbers just over 20.

Best figures I have seen, can only put it down to cleaned throttle body, new pcv valve and a couple of replacement coils, even on the rural roads coming back it was still showing around 19.

I'd be happy with that... My beloved pathfinder wouldn't get that if I pushed it down the road.

The PCV is the only real achilles heal of the V8 apparently. Takes 15 mins tops to replace, 2 x 25 torx screws and remove 1 hose.
As all V8 are coming up to 12 years old it's worth doing.
Duckworths amongst others can supply them.

Those mpg numbers are what we usually hit on both of our D3 V8's. Pvc are the only thing I have not done.

Your gallon is smaller Razz

Quote:
One imperial gallon is equivalent to approximately 1.2 U.S. liquid gallons

So your mpg should on average be higher.

Its also recommended to clean the pcv pipes as well.

Well I visited Wales at the weekend to see old man PJM and tinker with the V8.

Changed the oil and filter so squeezed 5500 miles since the purchase change. Note the 7.7litre refill requirement. Changed the bottom oil sensors as a precautionary measure whilst doing the oil change.

Went for a genuine filter and Castrol Magnatec oil.

22.4 mpg on the computer for the journey up but a whopping 26.7mpg on the computer for the return journey Bow down Best ever "computer figure" and I'm running on ATRs, with a snorkel and now an RLD sump plate

Does the V8 like new oil, or particularly like Castrol? Or has the sump plate improved the aerodynamics!

15 mpg in the US

Best I've had is around 15 mpg on mine (US) that's real numbers from consumption. If I ever saw 20 on my dash I would get out and celebrate.

May have a run at my coils and injectors. Whats good numbers in the US gallon market. I think we have more stop lights too,
Now I am thinking about what to upgrade to get to 20 mpg. Thanks...
