NOx Sensor

Had the engine management light come on and obviously throw up some codes. Just been to Land Rover garage I use who have said that it’s egr valve so no probs there as am going to get them blanked by them and they also throw in a engine remap with it. But they have also said that it is showing a NOx sensor problem and needs investigation. Could someone please explain what this is and likely causes and also outcome ie costs involved.

Cheers

Part of the function of the egr is to reduce the nox from the system so it may be the remap knocks the nox on the head anyway!

I cant tell you much about the disco version, but can bore you to death on the trucks.

Euro 4 had two temp sensors pre and post cat then they added one nox sensor after the scr cat , if if thought nox was high it injected more adblue, pretty reliable.
Euro5 same set up but with another nox sensor pre scr cat, still cause issues now but most are well known.
Euro6 same set up as E5 plus a dpf, egr and a ammonia cat, as for issues well the list is endless and the problems many, not unusual for a truck to go back to the dealer many times before it is fixed.

Thanks again for more info. The only things I seem to be able to find where discovery’s are concerned is for the d4 onwards,p and about the adblue. Can’t find anything relating to d3

Cheers

Thought they were on DPF models - though DPF has 2 sensors I think egt and nox .. didn't think DPF was sold in the Uk

edit just checked my IID live values which have place holders for the sensor data and the 2 sensor are temps upstream and downstream of DPF... not nox which, as above euro 6

Ukraine

UK D3s didn't have DPFs, later Eurozone ones did but not UK ones. Thumbs Up
