Nudge bar wraparound

Hi,

I'm considering the nudge bar wrap around, to buy and install it myself.
I would appreciate any opinions about quality and functionality of that part, meaning the item like in the image:

For instance,

how firmly does it get installed, does it bend ?

is it robust enough for the hardest off road usage ?

How long does the installation take from non pro typically ?

I'm sure the two reprobates will be along shortly to answer your questions. In my view they are not aesthetically appealing as the soft A-Bar but they are certainly harder. I tried to order one when I ordered my D3 and the dealer would not order it so I went for the A –Bar in time I might change to the ARB winch bumper thou

Hi Offroader,
Both the A bars in the photo are 'winch type', the non - winch version has an additional horizontal tube across where the winch would be.
Fitting is easy but does involve drilling two holes in the bumper cover.
The bar is 'airbag compatible', as such, it is designed to move on impact so as to make contact with the crash sensors. unfortunately, this also means that a heavy contact near the bottom mounting points will dislodge the bar... Rolling Eyes

There is a way round this however 8) - although it involves removing the bumper cover and the steel bumper to modify the upper mounting points.
Be aware that you may need to fabricate the lower fixing plates as these are only supplied with the winch kit but are also a common fixing for the undershield and A bar

In terms of strength, although it does feel very light, mine hasn't suffered any damage despite a few 'contacts' with rocks etc. on it's lower edge Wink

Yes, I got it. BUT - after done such stable mounting, would the airbags work then properly anymore ? Aren't the airbag sensors based into acceleration, not into actual crashing ? That has been at least my understanding that when such sensor read acceleration value of over 5 G's with some logic combined to vehile speed, then it will blow the airbags. It means that explosion of the airbags can not happen in the parking place or garage when the car is barely moving, there has to be more than 20 km/h speed at least, right ?

yes, there is speed input as well as collision detection, the top of the bar will still deform and impact the crash sensors, the mounting modification purely prevents the bar lifting off the top mountings in event of the bottom of the bar impacting on something hard
