We were there a few years ago, to watch the Tour de France 
I can recommend driving the D4 north east towards Cluses, fantastic trip, lots of scary hair pin bends and scenery to drool over 
Also a 'day' trip to Chamonix and up the Mon Blanc railway is worth while
Very envious, have a great trip Dunc Never get mad - get even !!
06 D3 now gone to family member and still going strong at 265k
