Off to LRE Skipton tomorrow...
I'm going to LRE Skipton tomorrow to do my Level 1 and can't wait. Couple of questions,
Has anyone else done the L1 at Skipton?
What can I expect above the half-day that I did last year?
Anything not obvious that's worth asking when I'm there?

Obviously you get more time at the wheel when doing a level 1. You will be able to play with the terrain settings which will give you an understanding as to how the car works. What vehicle have you chose to do your level 1In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Asked for a D3 manual, same as mine as it seemed the logical choice.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

When I booked my level 1 I was asked what car I drive when I said a D3 they suggested I try a Range Rover Vogue. I insisted on a D3 as I wanted to learn in the same vehicle I drive, not another product from Land Rover. Although on the day I had to take a RRS as the D3 I was booked into had been bent the previous day.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I did my level 1 at Skipton.
Insist on doing it in a D3. I had Ronnie Dale, and he spent plenty of time explaining what the D3 can do, and very little about what it can't do... Coffeecup

I did my level 1 at Skipton a few weeks ago and one of the items shown the what the DSC was for. They get you to drive foot flat to the floori n a field and hit the brakes hard first with DSC and then without DSC.
Then they get you to brake just using the hand brake at speed and then half braking etc. Very intersting stuff and great fun too. Also all the usual things ie hill descent control and using that dial in the middle of you console for trying out all the diffrent modes.
A bit of water wading and also how to get stuck in the mud and how to get un stuck.
The instructor also spent some time telling you what all the buttons did on everythingi n the car and the remote control functions. I learnt somuch aboutmycarthatday. It was a great experience. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Lunch however was a little disappointing, 4 triangular sandwiches a piece of lettuce and a coke. !!
Have a great day I know you will. Landrover Discovery 3 TDV6 S 7 seat Automatic

Instructor was brilliant (James Iball) but I was slightly dissapointed with the course. Not much variey really, mainly artificially created 'play' areas. Personally I won't be going back to do my Stage 2 but if you have never off-roaded much before you will enjoy it a lot. You learn an awful lot about the car too including the Terrain Response, DSC etc.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto
