Simon I feel you're missing the point. If you take out life cover for example and say to the company I fly regularly, they won't rate the policy, if you tell them I fly regularly but I am the pilot they will rate the policy because the risk is vastly different.

The NFU will cover you for any off road driving as long as its not competitive and they factor this risk into their prices. Direct Line who would not expect to take on the extra risk of driving on a greelane albeit technically a road. They are likley to fight like hell if you stuff your car down a hill and write it off because the risk of doing that off road is hugley different.

That is why I changed from an Esure premium of £300 to a near £600 one with NFU. Even the milage you do will drastically alter premiums, 12,000 miles fully protected cover with Esure was about £300, 22,000 miles was £540. If you drive a lot higher mileage than you declare they can wriggle out of it the same goes with green lane cover.

Hmmm - am going to contact Direct Line to find out their definitive position - as they are my insurers Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Thats why I insure with NFU... and they give for the first two years of the cars life GAP ins - new for old cover.

Not sure what point I'm missing but hey NFU do what I need and are the cheaper of those I canvassed for prices.
