offroad tyres

After purchasing a new set of 19" hse alloys with mtr's i've been advised not to take them on the forthcoming offroad excursions due to damage/scratching, so i have the following options;

Replace the worn out tyres on my old 18" se rims and swap over when offroading, advise needed on suitable offroad tyres as there doesn't seem to be a 19" mtr equivalent in the 18's?

Or go hunting for a second set of used 19" hse rims with mtr's.

It will be the used market on both options as there are already complaints about the fact that i've already purchased a new set of tyres/rims Sad , and a sump guard Sad , and a jack Sad , and an adaptor Embarassed

Ian

I am being advised that there is a third option 'don't go offroad' Shocked

Is that because you might scratch the alloys??? Occupational hazard but easily solved by having a dedicated set of offroad wheels/tyres that U don't mind scratching. Who advised you not to use them?

U could use your existing 19"ers, risking damage, and search at leisure for a "good" set. Thumbs Up

The cost of refrubing the alloys when you want to move them on/ they are totally scratched is far less than the cost of a second set of rims and tyres.

I wouldn't worry about it!

The alloys were a combined ebay buy with mtr's already fitted and balanced at a price to good to say no to Wink

It took a long time to find them but they replaced my well used 18" se with nearly bald tyres.

The 19"hse's are only 2 months old and covered only 600 miles, seems a shame to damage them!!!

Stop being a girl and just use them! Yougot a bargain for them last time, you'll easily get a bargain when it comes to replacing the tyres in 40,000 miles Wink

Agree with bodsy, bought brand new FFRR rims with MTRs on, was offroading the next weekend with fair few scratches. Never thought about the condition in the 3.5 years since! Thumbs Up

KL71 is a good offroad tyre. Here's a photo of one of them well off-road Whistle

Only available for the D3 in 17", though. Wink

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Followed you for many hours in Tunisia, most of it stationary and waiting!!!

Only kidding. Honest!! Whistle Whistle

To be fair, delivered one of those tyres down to NJF at marseille and had loads of time to poke & prod it while waiting for the jetboil to do its stuff. Certainly looks like it would be mean in the mud! Thumbs Up

Hi there, would you send an exact specification of thr alloy and the KUMHO tyres you use on your DISCO 3, please? I am currently using GENERAL GRABBER AT but it is not a great choice for mud roads. I am planning a trip to Romania and Albania and want to be well prepared. Many thanks Alesak
