How often do you change the fuel filter?

Just putting my feelers out as to how frequent should the fuel filter be changed....disregarding what the book says! I have got 34 k on the clock and I do not think that it has been changed yet.( not to my knowledge) I hope to get this changed in the next couple of weeks. Then how many miles before i should do it again please?

ISTR that it should have been changed at 30k or 2yrs as per book. Re air firer, I change mine every 15k rather than at 45k & 90k.

F/Filter is every 3ok

Air filter (Book says) 45k but lots of members report that this is too long an interval so change sooner

Here in SA it is done every 48 000 km

Not sure if that is good enough for our crap fuel so I get mine done every 24 000

Thumbs Up
harsh conditions and poor quality fuels do mean that the service schedule may have to be looked at and brought forward

Thanks guys, new fuel filter it is. Can you tell the difference when its done, better mpg, smoother running! I dont know if its phychological but I think the car is running a little lumpier,fluttering...is that a sign re the fuel filter clogging up:!:

I don't think the filter will cause lumpy running as the ECU will detect a reduced fuel flow long before you do, and most likely at high power/revs, when fuel demand is at its highest. Mine went into a vastly reduced power mode in lane 3 of the motorway because of the fuel filter, but I didn't notice any problems at the lower rev range.
