Oil cooler leak

Hi all from New Zealand!

I recently found oil leaking from underneath the vehicle. On closer inspection I found the V at the top of the engine filled with oil. I only serviced the truck a month prior so all indications pointed towards a leaking oil filter housing. Cleaned out the V and replaced the oil filter and O ring. Placed rags around the filter housing and drove the truck for awhile - no oil leaking from the housing. However a small amount of oil back in the V. Hoping this is just dregs of oil I couldn't clean off the first time round - not a leaking oil cooler... Sad

While investigating the oil leak I also found the source of a coolant leak I was quietly tracking. Coolant seems to be leaking from the oil cooler (between the small fuel cooler and oil cooler) - see attached photos. Water outlet assembly previously replaced and inspected this week - it's not leaking.

I have seen some second hand fuel coolers on the internet and some pictures of the units separated. It seems there are 2 gaskets between them. Does anyone know where I can find these gaskets or is it possible to make them? Is it worth reconditioning the unit or replacing the entire oil cooler? - an expensive option for a small leak.

I'm hoping no more oil shows up and I can just repair the fuel cooler. However the leaking coolant washing oil off dirty parts is making it hard to determine if there is in fact an oil leak or if it was only leaking from the filter housing.

Please see attached pictures. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the Oil cooler details! I have seen the videos which are super helpful! I was hoping however I wouldn't need to change the cooler at all if I could jest replace the seals between the oil cooler and the fuel cooler.

Check the top hose connection, its a plastic housing that the top hose connects too. It might be split, its a known fault, its right next to and just above that area.

Flack Thumbs Up

Thanks for your insight Flack! I have already checked this part unfortunately. It was manufactured in 2016 so must have been replaced by the previous owner. Still in good condition. While it was removed for inspection I also replaced the 3 O rings.

From where the coolant is pooling it seems to me like its seeping through the gap between the fuel cooler and oil cooler. I know it's sold as one piece but has anyone separated the two units before?
