Oil and filter change D3
I have read a couple of threads about crushed or incorrectly fitted oil filters on the D3 which can cause oil starvation issues and engine problems.
I want to change the oil and filter in my new to me 186,000 mile disco and have established the correct grade ,I just wondered if it’s even worth doing at home? I would be very worried about fitting the filter wrong and crushing it as I have seen in pictures on here.
Is the job enthusiastic amateur status or best left to specialist who knows how not to fit the filter wrongly?Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Your now aware of what not to do, so you’ll be fine doing it at home. The last thing you want is taking it to a garage that are not aware of the crushing filter issue. You’ll then be one of those people who experience the failure. To reach the mileage of yours, I’d say it’s not been an issue. So do it yourself and keep it that way.

Hi discovery3ski,
Its really a simple affair and nothing to be scared of. Just make sure you insert the new filter into the housing whilst locating the nipple correctly in the bottom. Do not fit the filter into the housing cover, and then try to thread it into place.
There is a "how to" in Wiki I think if you have a look under maintenance!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
