Oil Leak?

Hi

I have an oil leak coming from a pipe (+/- 50mm) on the right hand side behind the bumper. I suspect that it might be the inter cooler pipe. Why is there oil coming from the inter cooler?

Any advise or opinions on the severity of the problem?

Thanks

If it is coming from the bottom of the intercoolser and ia about 50mm dia it will be oil from the turbo coming out of a loose fitting.
I just undid and cleaned mine before re-tightening. You could just re-tighten.

England

DiscoJacques,

I had an oil leak but from the TOP of the intercooler pipe on the right hand side.

It came from a perished rubber coupling at the top.

I had it changed for pence but its a proper Censored to get to.

Fortunately my bro has teeny carny type hands and managed after taking the wheel and heat shielding off.

Hope it works out mate.

Thanks guys,

My wife just took the D3 to the dealers, they are of the opinion that it's a gearbox leak Question

If he 50mm diameter pipe is leaking, how can the the gearbox leak reach the botomof the intercooler pipe?

I suspect they are trying to rip me off. I was not present, but how can one check for gearbox leaks?

Thanks

In answer I suspect the oil has been pushed back to the gearbox and confused them. Idea

Hi Caver

I know that LR is ripping me off, they insist it is a gearbox leak, no evidence to support, there is still oil coming from the 50mm pipe in front and not a trace of oil under the centre of the car (where the gearbox is).

Is it easy to replace the 50mm pipe? Apperantly these pipes seems to perish often.

Thanks

Turbo pipes tend to split causing black smoke. I would clean and tighten first.
