That's grand. Thanks for all advice.
I'm going to supply whilst my trust mechanic will fit.

I'm assuming water pump will also be good to add here.
Any other things that they will need?
Thanks again.

for the oil pump change

Job done today.
Was the old pump. No sign of cracking, and belt in fantastic condition, still, peace of mind now.
Cheers.

Hello everyone,
I lately became aware of the infamous oil pump/ tensioner fail. I read through many threads and since my Discovery happens to be a 2007 model I am worried quite a bit and would appreciate your suggestions. Thank you already.
Here is some information regarding the car:
2007 model (first registered in January 2007)
161.000 miles run so far
belts changed about 5 years and 58.000 miles ago
Is it a wise idea to have the belts now changed 37.000 miles prior to the next scheduled change just to have the oil pump changed as well and have the risk sorted?
Or do you think that would be overcareful and I could wait for another two years or so considering there have been 160.000 miles covered without the part breaking?
I know this is rather unpredictable but do you have any suggestion for me?

bit like red or black at the Casino, its a gamble could be good but also just as easy to be bad
if you have no proof of it being done better safe than sorry

Thank you Sea Raider!
Oil pump has not been changed according to the records I have. So when planning to keep the car for as long as possible the change seems to be a justifiable expense...
Is it work that can be carried out by a good independent mechanic who however does not have experience with Land Rovers or should I be looking for a specialised workshop? Unfortunately there are no independent Land Rover workshops around here and I'd like to avoid a Land Rover authorised dealer...
