OK - starting to see the funny side!!
After much prompting by the wife I will relent and make my incident public..
I recently fitted a Snorkel to my D4 which required the removal of the Front Right Wheel and Arch cover and Air Filter assembly. Carefully keeping all the parts and screws in a plastic tub. Got stumped on refitting the hoses to the Air Filter and put a question up on the forum which was quickly answered - stupid question and felt like a real tit when the answer was so obvious.
... fast forward a few hours and I find this in my tub of goodies
What the ... I don’t remember taking that off and I am not going to ask a dumb question again. Out with the torch to find where it connects ?? Two hours later no luck - find manual on internet, search internet with part number no luck - back torching, manual, forum, again - fail - again and again.
I WILL NOT ASK A DUMB QUESTION !!
More torch, manual, internet... f*ck!!! - hours hours hours
Then the wife comes home from work and finds me climbing the walls !!!
Calmly she said “Oh no - I found that in my car and threw it in your box”
Aaauurrghhhh!!!!
It’s a used part off her VW which was recently Services... some charcoal thing.
Note to Wife - don’t put anything in my box...!
Still not funny but she keeps laughing.Land Rovers never get bogged! - merely delayed
Land Rovers never break down! - merely fail to proceed.
Land Rovers never leak oil - it’s a built in anti-rust feature

And the moral is, always ask SWMBO first. Saves a load of hassle.

Totally the sort of thing that could happen to me! King of the typo.
MY11 D4 5.0 V8, Bournville, lots of goodies!
Now departed: '85 RR Vogue, '94 D1, '95 D1, '70 SIIA, '97 D1, '04 D2a. All V8, except for the SIIA - but that drank as much petrol anyway!

I have had exactly the same thing happen to me when I stripped a Honda Goldwing, spent hours trying to figure out where the bolts had come from. Only to find my son who was 4 years old at the time had decided to add to the parts for me.
