Used to lurk these forums a few years back when I owned a 58 D3. While I fixed most issues myself, we decided that despite being the best family car we ever had, it was becoming too unreliable as a main car and spent more time off the road than on!
Fast forward a 64 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 65 Volvo XC60, 65 XC90 and 65 Cayenne Hybrid (as the daily drive) later, the 2nd car is now a 59 D4... Hurrrah!
I have a list of things I want to do... Here it is. I have some questions on some that my searching is not so far able to answer:
Clean & Tidy:
-Remove interior, steam clean carpets, new mats, clean and recondition/colour the leather
-New key fob cases (Done)
-Machine polish some light scratches etc
Upgrades / changes:
-White LED interior lights (ordered)
-Side steps (ordered)
-Bluetooth audio, carplay or maybe even the tesla screen... can't decide if it's worth it!
-Love the RR TFT mode but not sure I'm brave enough to hack the dash
-Remap
-Expedition rack & lights (probably DIY with 1" scaffold) & ladder
-Swan neck tow bar
-Snorkel, chequerplate, chunky tyres & spacers, lift kit (all maybe's)
-Body colour the door handles
-Leather steering sew-on cover
-Sill plates
Fixes & Niggles:
-6/7th seat bases don't clip down. New clips on order.
-Xenon light lens is milky. Can't crack open the lens like on the D3 (tried oven and heat gun). Ideas? Not sure it is worth buying a whole new light.
-Bonnet latch not catching, needs adjusting (Done)
