One for the watch fans

Rolex have just launched the GMT model in Stainless Steel with the 'iconic Pepsi' bezel in ceramic. It's also on the original 'Jubilee' style strap.

RRP is £6800 and despite phoning 'my' dealers on the launch day the best they can do is put me on "of interest" list of 'about two years'. That means that in 'about two years' they may phone and ask if you'd like to pay a deposit to be one of the 'next customers' (usually about another 12 months wait).

US dealers already saying first models (no stocks released yet) will go for about $20k, so about double the list price Shocked

Wonder what it will do the value of the white gold version at £27k. They said they wouldn't 'devalue' the Pepsi' bezel on 'cheap' stainless case..........

These stainless steel one's are going to sell at silly prices for next two years I reckon

Each to their own isn't it. I've lusted after a 'Pepsi' dial GMT for years and have come close to buying 2nd hand a few times but always stop short as even the very, very, best one's are not 'perfect' enough for the money IMO and when you compare them next to the current generation watches I always found them 'lacking'.

This new model ticks all the boxes for me, I'd love to be able to get hold of one Thumbs Up

I've never liked them personally; don't like the 'lightning' hands, colours or lack of date window.

Can't be one of their best sellers or in demand as dealers always punting them when I'm looking at other models.....

Rolex watches do absolutely nothing for me!
In fact I'd be embarrassed to wear one.
To me it would be the equivalent of taking a ride in a stretch limo.
But then I am a cheapskate North Yorkshire Scotsman and have no class whatsoever. Rolling Eyes

Give me a top end G-Shock any day ...
... oh and a pocketful of cash to make up the value.

I like it but think i will stick to my pepsi GMT. Good for the older models though as it just makes them increasingly more desirable Wink Thumbs Up

Buckster, prices have risen over the last couple of years on all original 'Pepsi' dial models (£120k and more for completely Censored originals and early 60's models) with 90's and early noughties around the £4.5k to £7k range with the 'best' I have seen as a "new old stock, unused" wanting over £10k for a 2002 model...

Even the best of those later models tend to have been 'over-polished', stretched bracelets, often without boxes/paperwork and wear (or 'patina' as some prefer......) beyond what I'd want to see when latest, current, GMT's with all the benefits they bring are £6.2k and up.

With the 'Pepsi' now available brand new I would certainly not consider an old one now and see prices possibly softening when a few of the new one's start to hit the market. You certainly won't lose out though on an older 'original' Pepsi Thumbs Up

Getting hold of a new one though is another matter.......
