On-line Grocery Shopping

Anyone else use this?

I normally use the Sainsbury's website. Done and dusted in about 10 minutes. When SWMBO does essentially the same shop, takes her over half an hour. She reads the descriptions and the customer reviews.

For things that I haven't seen before (like on Amazon), I'll read the reviews. But for icing sugar? Who actually takes the time to post a review of a bag of sugar?

Reading all that stuff would seriously impinge on my Disco3 website time.

Here we sometimes use something which could be translated as "collecting".

First you select on-line what you want and which store you want them at and a particular time. Then, show up and reverse your D3's big Censored next to the loading dock and they'll fill it up. Drive away. Done.

Works surprisingly well and saves dad 1 1/2 hour of store time when you need to do next week's shopping. I've managed (mostly) to outsource the unpacking of shopping bags to the minions, too.

Thumbs Up

We're agreed on disco3 web site time. I mean one has to have priorities in life after all. Rolling with laughter

After yesterday, no.

Ordered 72 cans of dog food.

E mail, AFTER the van had left the depot, to say there was a substitution.

They sent 36 cans and tried to charge me more than I had ordered the 72 cans for (special offer).

Rejected at the door.

A guy I used to work with always swore by online shopping with Tesco until an unfortunate incident.

He was Spanish, and was having several friends and family over to stay. To welcome them, he planned to make some sort of traditional mixed bean stew (don't ask, I've no idea, he was Veggie). As there were a lot of people coming, he ordered six cans of every type of bean that Tesco sold - Borlotti, Flageolet, Kidney, Cannellini, etc.

When the delivery arrived, he was out and his neighbour took delivery for him. When he got home, there was a note to say they'd substituted some items. He ended up with 40+ cans of Tesco Value sausage and beans. Rolling with laughter

The best bit was listening to him arguing with Tesco on the phone in the office in angry broken English. Although he didn't find it as funny as we did!

Sounds weird that one can’t select the option to not substitute if the original product is out of stock.

With the local Asian prices Shocked no thanks

I use the local bakery and butchers and that’s it. Everything else comes from the supermarket.

Not sure its still the case but you used to be able on Tescos. We only used it once and that was for click and collect and they substituteed a large pack for 1 for 1 half the size, commonsense dictates it should be 2small packs and I actually needed the large pack for one meal. So we haven't risked it again.
