opinions on LSD and adaptive headlights |
|
Hi all,
Am about to place an order for TDV6 SE with these options and wondered if anyone (in particular in Australia) had any experience with them (good or bad). Ie are the adaptive headlights worth the money? regards
Peter

Adaptives are worth it if you drive off road (or anywhere for that matter) at all at night where there is no light. One can see more. I have them on my LR3 mostly because my wife got that option on her BMW, and they really work well.......and she never goes off road. i could see the possibilities. I don't have the adaptives but find the spread on the standard xenons is excellent. others have stated the adaptives are great while others report that they require a fair amount of steering input. I think your best option is to go to a dealer who has them on a demo and experience them for yourself as it appears to be a matter of personal taste.
DG is this the LSD on the car or the LSD bought from a car

I automatically assumed the latter 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I find adaptive headlights are superb and well worth the extra money, LSD on the rear was also worth the money as to fit it later is impossible. As my vehicle is new, I haven't used it off road much yet, but as time goes on I will be, and I know the LSD is there ready when I need it. If you go off-road, and do a lot of night-driving, both are worth every penny.

adaptives are great for country - unlit areas, as is the little side light bulb that comes on when you indicate & slow to turn etc, -seen a boulder with those, than un-equipped cars whould have missed.
LSD ? Habit forming & great fun, but when the giant Lucy in the Sky with diamonds comes to take you away to the yellow subnarine....it's time to stop..... 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.

I've got both on mine, though not that I had a choice - the car was the closest spec to what I wanted "off the showroom" at the time. I did want the locking rear diff, but did consider adaptive lamps as bit of a showoff toy. However, after seeing them in action in total darkness, I no longer consider them total waste of money. The biggest safety benefit I can see is that they adjust to the pitching of the car so that when braking heavily, for example, the lamps continue to illuminate up the road rather than 2m in front.
Do cornering side lamps come only as part of the "adaptive" package? I thought perhaps these were a standard feature, and independant of the swiveling main lamps?

Get them both.
The locking diff is great off road.
The adaptive headlights are really impressive when they do their little dance at startup! Have a nice day!

I agree get both.
Have both and would not be without them.
Looks like you are in the bush. Adaptives really help on country roads, the help around corners and and light up that roo you otherwise wouldn't have seen; particularly good off road at night.
Try then when shooting in a paddock.Great
Electronic Diff is great and makes the difference between stuck and ....well you don't notice the tricky bit if you have one. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

The locking rear diff is the best value option. I concur with all other re the adaptive lights. I have both.
