A causal search on Google about us and I find this thread. So I thought I'd join up and introduce ourselves.
To answer a few of the points raised; ebay feedback does not mean much if you don't actually sell your service through it. It's just a means to get our message out there and works well.
Drive past us and you'll see just how busy we are, even without our name on the building!
I can reassure you that all the parts required to recon TDV6 or TDV8 engines are readily available and we're not the only people doing them.
Oval Autos is the trading name of our company and I'm all over Companies House, if you spell my name correctly!
Not that we need to, but 2019 is the year we will start to put more effort in to our online presence. New website, Twitter, FB, Instagram, Google reviews, Trustpilot and yes, eBay feedback.
So feel free to drop me a line, drop in or call. I don't bite!
Thanks for saying hi.
Could you do a thread on the recon of a 3.0 TD/SDV6? Im sure many on here would love to see how its done and what they look like opened up and in bits.
Bit of a description and some pictures would be great.

Your company close to me and I have a discovery 4 engine with snapped crank and possible crank as damaged block wondering what you can offer in way of repair
As most of us make prudent enquiries before committing to substantial commitments would you please let us know your company name, rather than trading name, so that we can reassure ourselves with a simple companies search.
Thanks in advance

I’m curious. Why does every single recon engine on eBay need to be supply + fit?
Would you supply an engine to another repairer on an exchange basis?
I can't answer for other suppliers, but the reason we don't is simple; the initial startup is crucial to the build process and not everyone follows the correct procedure. The engines are fickle at the best of times and need a lot of TLC. We used to do supply only, but got fed up with BS excuses when they failed after less than a 100 miles because simple procedures were not followed.
We also run the car for at least 200 miles with our test rig attached. This measures oil pressure in 4 places, which involves a few modifications and crank case pressure to monitor the piston ring blow past during the bedding in process and ensure the breathers are working correctly.
As good as we like to think we are and the *extra* things we do to improve the TDV6, they can fail at any time and if they are going to fail, I'd rather it happened to me, not the customer.
When you consider that you can *buy* an exchange engine for £2k supply only and we charge £3k with fitting, it's clearly not for the money if you take in to account the amount of time it takes.
However, we are in the process of building a test rig to run/bed the engines in prior to fitting and may consider supply only later in the year if it goes well.Joe

Hi, are you still doing recon engines for £3k fitted?
Did you build the test rig to run in the engines?
Thanks

I took my Disco4 to Oval Autos after a camshaft failure.
Joe is extremly busy but after he rebuilt my engine, my car sounds better than when it was bran new.
There are too many prople out there who are very shady but Oval Autos are a genuine company that are experts.
Used Oval Autos for my Disco Sport and Velar good company to deal with and Joe really does know his Land Rovers. Every time I have been he is really busy so keep trying if you don’t hear from himRange Rover Velar HSE First Edition

I have been a member of this site for a long time and I remember Joe @ oval doing some kind of guess how many crank failures, he’s been on this site for quite some time, and I have not heard anything bad reported, I spoke to Joe about a friends engine, he was as honest about the minimum to maximum price depending upon what was needed, my D4 is still under extended warranty until March next year, I love the car and as I cannot renew the warranty again if my engine failed I will send to oval autos , I might even send it in before failure as it’s getting close to 100,000 miles, but it’s in the dealership at the moment with oil level problems and a strange noise from the engine
