P132b, black smoke, no power until 2500 revs, ESF; no split?

Hi there, I know this is a much discussed topic but I have tried lots of reading on the forum but haven't found anyone with the same combined set of symptoms. About a month and a half ago the ESF bong started occuring after driving for half an hour and there was black smoke on hard acceleration.

Over the last 2 weeks or so the ESF message comes on 5 seconds after start up. The rev needle just bounces straight to 2500 rpm with no power until after this. This was all pointing me to a split in the intercooler hose (can this split cause the ESF error too?). I removed the hose tonight in the hope of finding a split but nothing visible. The bottom end of the pipe was oily on the outside and then a bit off oil dripped out when I disconnected it. Replacement pipe is due to arrive the next few days but just wondered if people feel I am on the right track?

The fault codes are;
P140A-00 (2D) Exhaust gas recirculation sensor C - circuit low
P132B-00 (6C) Turbo/supercharger boost control A performance

The EGRs are blanked and have been for 5 yrs plus, the drivers side blanking plate is a bit oily around the bottom and car hasn't entered limp mode at any stage so am thinking/hoping its not the linkage or bigger turbo issues...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen the turbo actuator problem but wasn't sure if because I hadn't experienced limp mode it may have ruled that out. I'll certainly give it a go, that thread helps explain the method a lot. Thanks.

A loose or split hose will result in consistent loss of power and black smoke over the entire rev range. In this turbo the actuator controls the pitch of vanes inside the turbo to boost air pressure. If the actuator is stuck then boost is maintained at a fixed/low level resulting in very little power/black smoke. When the actuator becomes unstuck the vanes can then move to create the desired boost level and the car takes off like a scolded cat and no smoke.

Took me a while to get back but I did this on Friday evening, seized solid. 20 mins before any movement (thought the bit I was trying to move shouldn't move) and then it moved a little. Massive turbo replacement bill avoided with a relatively straight forward procedure. Many, many thanks for explanation and direction to the correct thread to follow. Bow down Bow down

I am sure my car exercises the turbo rod on shutdown to avoid seizure. Don't all vehicles have this feature, or doesn't it work very well?
