Parking sensor (rear outside) replacement
Hi
Need to replace parking sensor and bezel (physically damaged) - do I need to take the bumper cover off (a-la instructions) or given I’m replacing the disproportionately expensive plastic bezel too can I just lever it out from the outside, swap the sensor, attach the lead and click the whole lot back into place together? Would save me the grief and probably get it done before hollibobs 56 HSE

I have heard of people being able to change an outer sensor in situ, but when I tried, the sensor wouldn't budge.
By far the safest method is to take the bumper off. Will give you a chance to check the wiring loom, which is notorious for being an issue.Richard

The bumper comes off easy, you most likely only need to undo one side and pull it out.

Is there an easy way to determine if a sensor is working or not, without plugging it in.

If you turn the ignition on, then put the car in gear without starting the engine you'll be able to hear a working sensor clicking if you put your ear close to it.
I was amazed at quite how loud they are when I first tried it.
It really is quite easy to whip the bumper off to change the parking sensors.
My tip is not to forget the screw that goes into the front wing behind the headlights.
