I took my puppy out training with a couple of friends to an old quarry about 30 minutes from me the other evening.
He has done very little water training so thought I'd give that a go first off.
The dummy was thrown about a metre out which he retrieved nicely. Friend then throw it a bit further out, sent the puppy. He started panicing about 3 metres out, so he turned to swim back to me, but he just stopped moving. I think his back legs touched the bottom of the pond so he was standing up on his back legs and just splashing the surface of the water with his front legs. After a while he started to sink, so guess who had to wade in to rescue him.......

It was fahooking freezing, had no change of clothes, so had to wait in the car in me undies, waiting for the others to finish. Not sure what I'd have said if the police came past and saw me .The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

Think of it as a bonding session............and the puppy owes you BIG time ALTERNATIVES...............No alternatives for off-road capability.
If you want Surrey plush, go for a Range Rover. If you want Manchester bling it's the Range Rover Sport. But if it's a seven-seat, go anywhere 4x4, it's time to Disco.

I rescued a friends dog once when we were duck shooting, poor old boy was going under so I dived in and pulled him out and it was the first drive of the day in January - now that was cold!! Saying that I swam a stream in November to retrieve a fox ( it didn't swim fast enough!!) but I was a lot younger then.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

And then dried it off on your fleece, hey Derek
Actually might have done! When said hound gets back from a very wet & cold walk he gets the fleece over him when he's lying shivering on the couch! When he's got the fleece over him I keep him away from the fire!!
