Permanent 12v Supply .... again

Well today I've done some of the final power wiring for my DVD/PS2/Screens and I've run up against a problem.

I a previous thread TFC mentioned the 12v supply available in the relay positions - well my car doesn't have those connections!!! it has the holes in the plastic but there is no actual connections. How strange!

So I'm now searching for a permanent supply I can tap into anyone got any ideas?

Richard

Hi Wiggs

Yes thats the place, but I can guarantee you there are no contact behind the holes!!

After a good 30 mins of trying to get the spade connector in, I removed the ciragette lighter relay that is next door and saw the differnce i.e. it has connectors and takes the spade fine....

Its wierd, I'll try and post a picture in the morning. At the moment I'm toying with removing the relay and using that, but I then loose one 12v socket in the front tray.

Richard, how much current do you need? there's a couple of options depending on the load requirements Wink

Not much - I would say the screens/switcher and DVD player are probably 4A max, and the PS2 is only 4A I believe (i've bought a Big Cat PSU - not an inverter), Even if I add the Freeview tuner were still within 10A.

I looked at the Trailer connector (as the switcher and PS2 are in the third row) but the 4mm cable is a bit closely loomed to do a 'good' hook in. Thats part of the reason i tried the 'TFC' way..... just can't beleive my luck

Thanks for any help

If you've got the HSE as your profile says, there is a permanent feed to the seat movement relay under the passenger seat (mounted on the front seat bracket behind the plastic trim) although i'd be tempted to strip back the trailer loom and solder a tap-off wire to the permanent +ve there...
not a quick job but worth doing IMO
