Pirelli Verde all season (are they made of cheese?)

Seem to be going through these quite quickly. Both rears have had to be replaced. First one was a thorn in the side wall, second one has a big cut in the side wall.

Tyres all at the right pressure so just not sure why these seem to give up so quickly. Could be bad luck but interested if anyone else has had issues with them ? Scorpions wore out quick, but didn’t need replacing due to punctures. Big Cry

Only 11,500 miles in with my Pirelli Verde’s; one puncture (with something that would have punctured absolutely anything), with even wear and no more than half worn so far. On the limited experience I’ve had so far, they seem okay to me.

I know that they are only M+S tyres, but their ability to deal with Mud and Snow may be very limited though.

Both were relatively new, one could only have done 8k. The other slightly less. Maybe just bad luck ?

I have Pirelli Winters and they are very prone to punctures. Vredesteins none, Pirelli Scorpions one, Pireli Winters 4!

I had the Verde's on my Touareg - found them absolutely dreadful, even on grass.

On the flip side always found the Scorpions faultless.

I have 275 45 21 Verdes that where on when I bought it same as FF RR, I've done about 2k miles on them and am not yet convinced they are a for me, worst experience was aqua planing in heavy rain Shocked.
I have asked this question in another post without an answer: what are the advantages if any of wider tyres and lower side wall on a D4?

I'd be tempted to say the bigger wheels and low profile tyres are purely a cosmetic "advantage". no denying they can look really good and with air suspension probably not the unforgiving ride some other cars get with them.

others may disagree.

Mainly cosmetic, but more grip under certain conditions i guess. For me it was the alloys I briught came with the 275/45x21 Verdes already on so happy to stick with them. Wear rate seems to be OK at the moment (well they havent been on over the winter so wear rate is fantastic Thumbs Up ) but over last summer hardly seem to wear at all.

What you are saying is you take them off and put others on for winter?- this is exactly my thoughts, but they are classed as all season!
What do you put on for winter?
Do you notice any difference in the ride with others?- although I have no problem with the ride quality.

I have had (for quite a while) a set of 19's with Wintracs on, so have stuck with using them over the Winter. The Verdes might be "all season" but as I have the others I choose to use them, and it means I dont get salt crap on my nice 21's Thumbs Up

Ride is a touch harder on 275/45x21 when compared with 255/55x19, but IMHO not that much and it doesnt bother me.

What pressure do you run the 21s at?- all mine where showing more wear on the shoulders and very little in the centres, to the degree I have fitted two new one on the front.

That sounds like yours are running too soft. I am running 34 front and 38 rear, upping the rears a couple of PSi when towing.

Assuming all comments are re the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season, I thought I would share my experiences.

I have these tyres in 255 55 19 size on my D4 and covered 23,000 miles. I have had even wear - am now at 5mm /6mm on all four tyres - think they started with 8mm. I run them at 2.3 bar on the front, 2.5 bar on the rear as per the manual.

I have had no problems so far - quiet, way better grip and wear than the Scorpion Zeros that I used to run from new. Most of my work is now on road with some towing and for this they are perfect. Not had any issues in rain, ice, and limited snow. I Much prefer them to my last set of General AT which I took off at 26k because of noise and harshness.

I noticed that Harry Metcalfe runs these on his 3.6 TDV8 Range Rover and is a big fan using them on road, field and in the snow.
