Playing MP3 from USB memory stick/drive issue

When playing MP3 music from my USB thumb drive/memory stick, system freezes occationally. It's not the whole audio system freezing up, I could still switch to CD or Radio just fine but can't play MP3 from the USB drive anymore when this happens. If I remove and reinsert the drive, it trys to reconnect but nothing happens. Only way to get it going is to shutdown the system, remove the drive, turn it back on and reinsert the drive. This happens 4 times already since I got the truck 1 month ago. I switched to another USB drive from different manufacture and in different size and still same problem.

Has anyone else exprience this problem? Known issue? Available fixes? or accept it and just live with it?

What is the capacity of your memory stick and how much stuff have you got on it?

1st one was 1GB and full of MP3 files. So I got 16GB one and currently using little over 1GB.

I initially used a 4gb memory stick which I filled with mp3 files & had no issues with at all.

Last week I bought a 32gb stick which I have now also filled with mp3 files (at 320mps).

I have found that when I select my first track it will stutter for about 10 seconds whilst it plays catch-up (buffers).
Subsequent tracks play ok unless I choose a new album or playlist when again the first track stutters a bit.

Apart from this I have had no other problem with the system.

The memory sticks that I have used are pure memory only. Not the ones with security software built in. Could that be a cause?

ISTR there is a 8gb limit for memory sticks before causing problems

The book of words suggests the system can cope with a lot of gigs.....

I have a 16gb stick, and it works fine. I think that the key is to make sure that there are no files on the disk that conflict with the system, and slow the scanning down.

I wonder if the 320kbps is the issue. I don't think any of mine are above 196.
