I've had a look through the search pages and found not a lot on polishing. I know this can be a tricky subject as most people are not 'Polishers' but do manly things with their cars, but on the odd occassion you do spend a few hours gently buffing your pride and joy, what do you use?
I've previously used..
Mer - Cheap stuff from the ideal homes exhibition...easy to use.
Autoglym - not too bad, but lifts the top of the paint off and leave it on the cloth
Zymol -Outstanding product, but to do it right takes hours initially.Used this on my last five cars and always got good shine.
I was looking at P21S, as this gets a lot of good press, being similar, but cheaper than zymol.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sorry, but I think Autoglym is the best. I used the Super Resin polish when I first got the car, and then treated it with the very expensive pro finish stuff. It still repels mud and water 1 year on.

I use swissol on the 90 and the MINI, it's very good stuff, similar to Zymol but I find it easier and quicker to put and and take off  06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I am certainly a 'polisher'
I currently use Zaino.
It's an American system that most people say is better than Zymol.
Like Zymol the initial use is a bit long winded but the results are brilliant.

Mer is good but does leave fine scratches. Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Maguiars, much easier than Auto Glym and a better finish, harder to get hold of though as most Halfrauds don't do it. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I'm an autoglym fan, tried Mer find it good for deeper marks/scratches. Found Meguiers very dusty. A tip I got to get good finish is a 80/20 mix of autoglym super resin and extra gloss protection. Haven't polished the D3 yet but did my Focus RS every other week.

That's funny I found the opposite with Autoglym, so have all the reviews I've read. I reckon your right though about Mer, great for scratches. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

A creature of habit. After much searching and totally gobsmacked at the length folk go to on cardetailer.co.uk I've reordered a stock of Zymol. Just need some decent weather to get it on.

Meguiars stuff (technical term) is the best I've used.

I agree with Slimer, they put zinc coating and paint on for a reason, i regard the mud as an extra layer of protection. Shame is every time you take it to the garage they jet wash it clean again !!!! Clean it in the spring so you can remember the colour it was and again in early autumn to see what's going on before you enter the winter months.

I concur with Martin,
Swissol is the best wax / polish I have ever seen.
Did you know that Swissol can make a wax to suit your exact car (mainly if you own a classic car) but it will cost you in the region of £1000 for a small ish tub

I work with chap who is AutoGlym approved, he use to work at Bentley and has proved that AutoGlym is the best product by far.
