As above,
was going through the manual last night but couldn find anything in relation to above @ first hand.
any help appreciated.

Isn't it behind the Glove box? ISTR you need to unclip the lower glove box & it sits behind there? Bodsys Brake Bible

Yep - it is behind the lower glove box....just unclip it by bending the hinge tabs and let it drop down (at which point you'll realise that you forgot to remove the owners manual, insurance certificates etc and they'll fall on the floor).
The cabin/pollen filter is at the top of the area behind where the lower glove box would be - you can just remove it.
It's a 20 second job to take it out and/or replace it 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

cheers guys. actually had the manual out last night to see about pollen filter, but never came across anything about it. must have been in small print. 
doing up a shopping list of things needed for next service & that was one of them. not much point buying one if dont know where it is located to change.
