poor connections on ipod ACM

As some know, I've been striving for some months now to get the ultimate in entertainment and comms systems in my D3.

It's resulted in me getting the nickname 'bobbycrapcomms'

The latest issue is with the block connectors on my ipod ACM. Because they've been plugged and unplugged 1001 times now they've stretched and no longer make a decent and lasting connection. 10forcash caught me attempting to 'fix' this in the car park of the Castle at Corby on Sunday night by whacking the gearbox tunnel. It used to work but doesn't any more and now I only have ipod / computer / cb sound from the right hand side of my D3

So I'm looking for suggestions as to how to squeeze the contacts back into shape without distroying the connector completely

can't remeber but did't you have to cradle version ??

I can get the cradle with the ipod connector with the lead which ends in the din plug...Â£21.07 TLO has left the building.......

Think the pins will be OK, it's the socket connection that will have loosened... that said, offsetting the pins by the tiniest amount (i.e. bending) may sort it out

TLO - wish I knew that - i've been buying Brodit mounts & generic cradles for more than that

the cradle i do is for the older type adaptor so will only take the Nano gen 2 and the classic shapes..

Thanks TLO. The DIN connector is fine - it's the two rectangular block connectors (in fact, probably just the big one) that causes the problem.

TFC - I'll try to give the pins a tiny adjustment and see how I get on

You can buy most of those block connectors from either RS or specialist car wiring places, the only downside is there is usually a minimum quantity on the pins of at least 50. It should be possible to replace the connector if it comes to that.

Alternately perhaps a small bit of bending.

I have also seen someone run a small amount/bead of solder down a pin to make it a snugger fit, but their soldering skills are a long way beyond mine and I have never used this method myself!
