Powder Coated Wheels
Anyone had their wheels powder coated? I need to have my hse alloys tidied up a bit, got some nasty scratches. Never had much to do with powdercoating, how durable is the finish? will it stand up to much off road abuse??www.Bitter-sweet.co.uk
Powder coating is relatively thick 50-100um and it is basically a thermo plastic powder melted on, the net result is yes it is strong and will withstand abuse.

Sidney, there are some companies about that will come to your house and touch up your alloys for around £40 per wheel.Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

But thats not Powder Coating ! its a base refurb and wont last only good to tart up for selling
With Ken on that. It will be some form of two pack high build Epoxy I would imagine. it you intend to go off the black stuff and want the wheels to look ok, I would suggest you get then re powder coated. personnally I like staying on the black stuff a bit more, so mine will be recoated in a two pack Epoxy base with a force dried two pack PU lacquer on the top. This will give a deep gloss finish with more depth than power coats.

I really wanted black, but then again might show scratches more, so maybe a grey.www.Bitter-sweet.co.uk
black is a very good colour, especially if it is matt or a semi gloss, it hides all sorts of marks, lumps and bumps

General question how much do people think is the correct amount to pay for powder coating ?
This is a proper service full dip and strip removal of brurrs 7 marks, no resin is used for damage then powder coat

Yes an expo rack can be powder coated but nut by my guys we do wheels and wheels only

So I gather you powder coat then Ken? Think it might look quite good on the bonatti grey too, Ill have to try photoshop later. That could be a disaster www.Bitter-sweet.co.uk

If you say wheels and only wheels, I frequently get enquires for power coating (not wheels though)which we don't do , any good to you ?
