Power feed

The additional ciggy power socket in the dash has an ignition only feed wire coloured purple with a green stripe. A previous owner has plugged into this to provide the +12v accessory feed for a drop down ceiling monitor and a DVD player which have since been removed.

I am in the process of re-installing these and wanted to know if this was still a good place to take an ignition only feed from. Additional fuses will be added for each unit.

I also wanted to add a switch in the dash somewhere so that even with the ignition on I could turn the power for these off. Do I need to ensure the switch handles a certain ampage?

Thanks,
John

Firstly determine to total current draw from the circuits you are connecting. Make sure the fuse in the fuse box is rated higher than this, and use this as a guide for the switch you intend to fit, although I would leave some headroom.
