bloody hell..........just had a reminder why i try and do my own work where possible
Took the D3 to our local garage this morning to get a phone call 1 hr later saying thatt their dianostics did not find any fault codes.........but then they dont have LR diagnostics. Didnt charge me anything which is a plus and after them talking to the nearest LR stealer seem to agree with the EGR diagnosis.
The bit that really shocked me was talking to the local LR independant, not going to name names but he was fine about doing diagnostics until I asked on his opinion regarding the blanking kit he reckons it cant be done and there is no kit............. so have I dreamt all this up then? I could understand my local LR stealer taking the attitude of not wanting to blank them off...... but this guys answer was to basically sod off to the company that makes the blank then " I dont have time to mess about like that"
So.....my next step will have to be to bite the bullit and get LR diagnostics done....... and see from there.
Weird thing was the car seemd a bit beter this morning although still sluggish.
without getting it plugged into Autologic, Faultmate etc you won't know for sure if its EGR, turbo, injector etc etc etc...The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeksnearly 4 weeksover 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

Agreed. When I joined CFT for my car the recovery driver plugged in a box, could read nothing. The garage he took it to in Campbelltown, so ar$e end of nowhere, could pull up codes but had no idea what the meant apart from one that said EGR something or other. Until you get it to a garage (main stealer or indi) with the right kit they will just be stabbing in the dark, well murk anyway.

I have a 54 plate with 45000 your symptoms are identical to mine last year at 40000 and it was the EGR's. Bought a BAS blanking kit and followed the PDF instructions on the BAS website. It cost me £60 and two hours work to fix everything. Best thing I ever did.

latest up dateas follows:
EGR blank kit fitted , power has returned , and so far mpg is marginally improved, mainly because I think its been struggling to pll the skin off a rice pudding..... so not having to "drive" it off the line would always improve mpg.
Any how, the V6 power is re instated, so big ta to all those who diagnosed the inital fault
