News: "Ten kids hurt as double decker roof is ripped off"
What an absolute prat!
He/she drives a double decker bus under a bridge that only a single decker would go!
http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/145468...its-bridge
Surely to chr!st you aproach such a bridge something should twig in your brain that your bus is far too tall to go under that bridge.
Unless he thought that the bridge would miraculously grow taller or that his bus would shrink ??
Imagine it's like us filtering 'motorcycle style' through city traffic in our D3's.
It just wouldn't fit through these narrow gaps - but we already know that.
What a complete prat!
Thank goodness nobody was killed. I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

The story I read said that it was extremely foggy. There are a number of questions though, a couple of them being was this driver new to this route or did the driver normally drive a single decker? 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

This type of thing sometimes happens when a driver is used to driving a single decker and then does a special as overtime in a double decker In the early 80's, a driver did just that in Cwmbran Gwent while taking a special to the seaside ...sadly decapitating 6 people on the top deck in the process. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I suppose that could be likened to new owners who accidently knock it into offroad height the first time they go into an old multi story car-park.
I know of one chap who drove his D2 into a car park thinking plenty of room, only to realise he still had his roof box fitted, got jammed and had a queue of cars behind him.

I thought most bus routes, if you had to deviate from the "subscribed" route, you needed to check in with "control" before you were allowed to use it. Begs the question, did they use the wrong bus, or did they not check it out first.
As the OP said, how you could drive something so large and not think of a bridge so low being an issue I don't know... I know years ago, the place I worked with had a small van and we used to park it in a multi storey car park and I always felt like I was going to hit the ceiling, even though I knew the van was parked there every night and had never made contact in the previous few years.

Bloke at work has a D2 and went into the Melbourne Arts Centre car park (multi level and just high enough for a D3, in access hight) where work has an account for employee parking, the day after fitting roof bars. He remembered the roof bars just as the D2 toped the $8000 damage mark to the fire sprinkler system and air conditioning ducting. + $3,500 for damage to the D2. Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.
