Problems towing with D3

Hi all,

I have been towing my Peugeot 205 rally car behind my D3 on a brian james twin axel trailer. The car pulls fine and all looks ok but when I get to 60MPH The whole car virbrates, its like the feeling you get from a badly balanced wheel.

The car is fine when the trailer is not attached. I have also towed the same trailer with the same car on it behind my dads galaxy at the same speed with out any problems. I am pretty sure this problem is with the D3.

I have the multi height tow bar and have tried the ball in both the positons with out the raising plate on...

Has anyone else has similar problems or knows what this could be?

Thanks

mark

Try the trailer empty as well behind a different tow car so you then know if it is a load problem, trailer problem or your car combination.

Possibly some harmonic resonance - have you checked the trailer tyres for sidewall bulges and the wheel rims for any distortion? may be worth trying to position the car slightly differently on the trailer as well.
Is there a fairing on the front of the trailer?, the profile of the towing vehicle will create pressure differentials which may cause oscillation with one vehicle and not another. Finally can you get someone to follow you and ideally video the trailer, wheels and towing yoke for later analysis
