I can see your reasoning, however, if it were to snap, how do you retime it to the engine???????
Its possible that a bit more hassle now may save a whole load if it were to snap. Just something to think about. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

What about a different garage, I know you say that they are friends, but no harm with 2nd opinion.
I use TEAM VALLEY LAND ROVER you are not far from them and cannot recommend them enough and a lot of members up here think the same
