Putting in a new headlight bulb

Thought this would be very quick to do. Followed instructions in handbook, but couldn't remove grill completely with fitted spot lights. Thought I would be able to remove lamp unit if grill was loose, at this point found I could not lever up the brackets that hold lamp unit in place. Any tips, how much force do I need to move retaining brackets or is there a simple knack to doing this? Any suggestions.

I realise this is probably a piece of pi-s to most people looking at what some people have done to their discos

Get a pair of these:

and PULL!!!

Just don't try and lever on the bodywork or you'll be swearing.

Once you have them out, give the sliders a damn good clean and stick some oil on them Thumbs Up

Sprayed a little DW40 down the brackets on mine. looped a piece of string under the top of the bracket and PULLED !!

Now keep the string in the boot just in case (with the spare bulbs)

Thanks. I had already sussed the potential damage to the body which added to why I aborted the job first time round.

Struggled with those sliders today changing headlamp bulbs to X-tremes ( Smile ). Much better lubricated so I carefully put chassis grease on the slider which MIGHT last until next time I need to move 'em.

BUT - fishing around to get the main beam halogen bulb out, I "unleashed" three thin wires (green, yellow, black ISTR) attached to a loose white rectangular plastic connector Shocked

Q1 What does it do?
Q2 Was it connected to something important or just flopping about loose?

Bulb change went well and the dipped beam pattern shone to the mm the same spot on the garage door 8) BUT if it HADN'T - how the h€ll do you adjust the headlamp Question

There are spare connectors behind drivers side light, for front PDC and erm, possibly something else I can't remeber without looking.

This one was inside each main beam bulb enclosure... lying across the main beam bulb leads on the nearside; well tucked away when I checked the off-side... and weedy little wires, too.
