You run a 240bhp Ignoramus engine J77; I've got one in the XF (and very quick it is too ), but I never knew that it had one of these wonderful things:
Instead of having a broken sensor and wiring inside the engine, it uses a thin piece of metal to reach inside the engine and check it for you.
When I drew it out, it had oil on the end of it and little marks to show me how much is in there. Fantastic! That's pretty blo*dy clever that is No wonder I couldn't find "oil level" in the screen menu I wonder why no one has ever thought it it before?2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Looks like a cracking concept I bet it won’t catch on though.

I thought that was shock news in itself!! Okay, I sat in a V90, an XC60 and an XC90. That's more than enough to own up to for one day
Is it strange I have been considering the same cars, given the lack of valid options by JLR ?!
My problem is though 180-degrees off with yours ; my JLR garage is my best garage EVER,
for 40 years driving around 40 different cars... .. the WORSED dealers I had were BOTH Volvo
dealers, hence my dilemma...
Luckily I'm not forced to choose as the D3 still runs like a thoroughbred, no faults for 18 months...
To be honest, we only drove it for 15.000km so its not a realistic comparison to earlier times..
I do love the Volvo seats, a serious issue with a lot of JLR cars ánd the fact the controls of JLR cars and
Volvo appear to be the same, and least the buttons are, make me wonder why the seats aren't Volvo seats,
to solve my issue..
So, I am one limbo dancer for now..

What is it with Volvo and seats? Apart from their skull cracking "ladder" head restraints from the late '70's and 80's, they've always been brilliant. Those that I tried at the dealer yesterday were even better than I remembered from my last V70's from 10 years ago.
A good dealer's vital though and hope you manage to hang on to that D3 for a while yet 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Thanks Red Merle, that's what I'm planning to do..
Keeping it costs me € 3500pa in roadtax, a raplacement woud be € 2000,- .
But depreciation of my D3 is next to nothing and any recent car would
write off € 6000 - € 10.000 pa, but no maintenance..
With an average of € 1000pa in maintenance, I'm still € 5000- 7.500 better of..
And we just love the D3...
