Question on behaviour of aircon

Hi all,

I have a question re. the behaviour of the aircon. All settings are at auto and when I get into the car at the end of the day it can be really hot inside. When you start the engine the aircon also starts to cool the interior but what I have found is that the blower goes full speed for a while, than slows down for a few moments, than goes 100% again. Could also be that the valves directing the airflow close the flow to the front screen. This repeats a few times before the blower stays at full throttle for as long as it takes to reach the required temperature.

Is this some ingenious programming to prevent the front screen from cracking when it get cooled down too quickly when very hot? Has anyone experienced this before?

Any comments welcome.

Regards, Paul

Never noticed that....

It's hot here these days and when I get in the D3 around 6-7pm it is like a sauna inside.

The fan comes on pretty high and then once the air con compressor kicks in, the fan then usually goes to full for at least five minutes before it starts slowing down....

But I haven't noticed it coming on/off/on like your saying?

Doesn't it just "throttle back" as it's adjusting which vents are open / closed. As the cooling takes effect it will adjust the flow depending on the sensor feedback at different locations.
