Question about Salisbury Plain

I live not too far away, and we are looking for somewhere to go this weekend. Not really for greenlaning, just somewhere we as a family can go. Take a picnic, let my children run around etc. Is there places around the ring road that can be suitable for this?

Thanks in advance.

There is an accepted pic-nic area at the north end of the Larkhill range between Redhorn vedette and Lavington hill vedette.
It is a triangular bit of ground that goes off of the main perimeter track.
There is a grassed area, no hard standing but good track, and a clump of trees with a fab-tastic view to the north, you can see for miles and miles.

Redhorn is facing North at the top of the central range road, travel west from there and the next vedette is Lavington hill.
The pic-nic area is roughly half way between the two vedettes.

Thanks for the replies.

Coming from Bath way, I had intended joining at Lavington Hill. So it is heading roughly NE.
