Ramps

Hi all can anyone recommend a site to purchase ramps from that are wide enough to support my 235 size tyres. If not are smaller ramps ok to use?

235?

? 255 is standard. Are yours narrower than standard, or was it a typo?

Here is a picture of my 255's on standard ramps.

Nope 235 is the size and according to owners manual is a standard but as yours are wider and sit ok I will get a good old cheap pair 2nd hand of eBay or gumtree.

235s are listed for D3 in both 17 and 18" on MyTyres.co.uk

There was a discussion about 3 years back I think. I know Flack has some nice plastic ones (stackable too ? ) that he uses.

My D3 also crushed my (Machine Mart) ramps. I replaced with a set of Rhino Ramps (plastic) which are excellent. However I managed to destroy one in an act of gross stupidity by not reversing far enough back when coming off them. When I moved forward I caught the front edge of the ramp at an angle and destroyed it. So be careful with them...

Anyone want one Rhino Ramp for a D3/D4/FFRR?

Seriously I would think very carefully about buying cheap and/or second hand ramps. These are very heavy cars and there's no second chances if an accident happens.

I recently bought a pair of 6t SGS axle stands - they are superb and worth every penny.

could be wrong but that MIGHT be the ones Flack has.

Can't figure how to get "AND" terms to work (well) in searches. Sad

EDIT : Looked back through all Flack's posts to start 2018 and not found. have to stop now as I'm on cooking duty Smile

I think Rhino were the originals, lots of clones about now. The Laser ones I've seen advertised look very similar to the Rhino ones.

When I crushed my ramps I used 2 sleeper off cuts, my plan is to make them into proper ramps at some point

Please, Please don't buy cheap second hand ramps off Ebay or Gumtree.

The D3 is 2.7Tns in total, and even the rear end is heavy, most ramps people are clearing out of their garages were designed and built for 1970's 1.5tn total Cortinas and Escorts.
They are also now rusty and you don't know what's been on them in the past.

I welded on extra structure to my old steel ramps to make sure they will stand the weight.

I have a set of the plastic ones Rhino make, they are six ton each one, they are the best, but you need to take care and place them on level ground especially when its cold. I destroyed a pair in winter when I had to use them on a cobbled surface.

Flack Thumbs Up
