I'm pretty happy with my TDV6. It does all I need to keep up with the traffic (or beat it).
I did my first full throttle take off last night, after owning my car for 7 months and doing 33,000kms.
Never get a chance to do much more.
TDV8 would sound nice though............

Yep feel pretty sure we will also be happy with the TDV6
Just thought knowing our luck two days after our TDV6 arrives a TDV8 with more power and same fuel economy would be released

In my opinion, the TDV6 does not fully loosen for many 000's miles. Mine is now on 45000 miles, and the engine revs really well compared to early in its life. The acceleration is now very good indeed, it sounds better, and the economy is far better than it was.

Is the tdV8 expected to be looser from the start?
I have to say that my tdv6 seemed pretty loose from about 100 miles, although that might be a simple demonstration that I know absolutely nothing... Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue
Had it since new - sold Jun 17 after 12 years and 214,000 miles

Loose or not the V8 has got to be pretty awesome, but still not as 8) as the VW V10, imagine that. Any conversions available DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I suspect one challenge with the TDV8 will be the enormous price premium Land Rover will try and achieve over the TDV6 if and when it comes to the D3 or RRS.
For my money, and D3 HSE TDV6 money is not insignificant... you get the best bang x buck x far in a D3 TDV6!!!

I don't know how much more than the TDV6 the VW V10 weighs, but I got the impression when driving the V10 Toe-Rag that spirited cornering would have resulted in large holes in hedges or walls.
A friend did the old trick of shoe horning a Japanese marine diesel lump into a Range Rover about 15 years ago. Massive torque, but cornering was dodgy/dangerous with all that weight over the front wheels.
I wonder how much heavier the V8 diesel will be & how it would affect the D3's handling? I've never driven a V8 D3, how does that handles on the road compared to the TDV6? I'm guessing that there isn't much weight difference as diesel's weigh more anyway.

I think the TDV8 starts at £55K, the old TD6 started at £47K list. If the sound is right why buy the 4.4 RR, it looks like it is a straight fight between TDV8 and the supercharged DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

It appears not to be a developement of the TDv6, it appears to be a whole new engine. What I have read is that instead of the 60 degree V of the TDv6 the TDv8 has a 90 degree V so the blocks must be different. Although I would love one I will wait a bit..................... LR don't have a great reputation for getting engines spot on reliable straight out of the box with new models! Now a disillusioned new Land Rover buyer and have jumped ship to something less expensive and more reliable that hugs trees.... now driving a Mini Countryman PHEV as well as my trusty and brilliant 1996 Epsom Green Defender90 Tdi300
