rattly parts within B pillar?

Something is squeaking/rattling rather loudly just behind my head within the B pillar. I couldn't pinpoint it until yesterday when I pressed my ear to the pillar just above the shoulder belt adjuster (LHD). That's definitely where it's coming from.

Anyone have details on how to pull the trim off so I can take a look?

It might be your door seals chattering against each other - mine will some times do that?

you mean the rubber seals or the black panels on the outside? I've tried holding the black panels to see if it would quiet the noise but they don't feel loose. Not sure how i'd go about stopping the rubber seals from squeaking/rubbing.

I suspect it's something within the B pillar b/c my sunroof drains had to be replaced a few months ago. Wouldn't they have to take that panel off to route new drain pipes? My suspicion is that they didn't secure something properly when they put it back.

The rubber door seals apparently get affected by wax in car wash ect and squaek and 'rattle' against each other - I claened mine with white spirit and made sure they where seated properly

Ok. I tried wiping down the rubber seals but I still hear the rattle. If I press hard on the shoulder belt adjuster area of the pillar the rattle goes away, so it is definitely something rattling underneath that panel.

Anybody have the details on taking this panel off?

sorry to resurface this one, but my question is deeper now. Anyone know what runs along the inside of the actual B pillar? is there some sort of wiring harness in there that could be tapping against the metal?

i figured out how to remove the trim panels off the pillar and drove around for a bit without the panels attached. The rattle is coming from inside the actual pillar, not just inside the trim as i thought. argh!

The B pillar, this is the one beside the driver n passenger I guess. The rear sunroof drain tubes run down these, and the sunroof frount drain tubes run down the windscreen pillars.

Inside the B pillar really is only the drain tubes and the seat belt runners, adjusters.

Try taking the trim off, its in two sections, depending on trim colour, but mine is black lower, and roof liner material upper. They just pop off with push clips, and I suspect they didnt reassmeble the adjustable seat belt runner properly, like me, and had to redo the offending side

Hope that helps

Jason
